Family-Based Care Services Act of 2017 (H.R. 2290)
H.R. 2290, the Family-Based Care Services Act, introduced in the House, will amend XIX of the Social Security Act to establish a standard definition of therapeutic family care services in Medicaid and a baseline quality standard for this service. The Family Focused Treatment Association has lead efforts to ensure that children and youth that come into care with special behavioral health needs, developmental disabilities and/or medical disabilities. This legislation will provide foster, kinship, relative, adoptive and biological families caring for these vulnerable children with access to quality services, training and supports in a family-based setting.
